Adding a tower on 09 TXi

When I picked up a 2009 Malibu Response TXi, I didn't realize that I wanted to add a forward facing tower. Main concern is the limited fiberglass in the mounting area, I sure don't want to mess up a good thing. Anyone here done a similar install or have pointers?

Your concern about reinforcement is valid because the TXi wasn't built for a tower. You'll need to add significant backing plates under the deck at all mounting points. A thick aluminum plate on the underside helps distribute the pulling forces to prevent fiberglass damage. Have you contacted Malibu or the tower manufacturer for their reco on your specific boat model? An experienced marine installer would be a safe option for an installation on a non-tower hull.

The TXi's hull can be tricky for tower installs, especially with limited fiberglass up front. Have you looked into custom mounts or reinforcing plates? Read somewhere that some went that route as a workaround.
